ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say a grand jury has indicted a man accused of driving an SUV into an Atlanta bicyclist and then leaving the scene.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said Joseph Alan Lewis of Atlanta faces charges that include criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and hit-and-run. Jail records do not indicate whether Lewis has an attorney.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a red Dodge Nitro appeared to intentionally run down cyclist Greg Germani on June 9, dragging him about 50 feet. The bicyclist was wedged under a parked vehicle. Police have said the incident came after an argument between the men.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (https://on-ajc.com/1sHi01u) that Germani was in intensive care at Grady Memorial Hospital for several weeks with brain trauma.
