IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Iowa City police have arrested a woman who they say intentionally ripped out her IV and splattered blood on her nurse’s face after being denied more medication.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (https://icp-c.com/1qrRAfw ) 57-year-old Rose Sutton is charged with a serious misdemeanor count of assault on persons engaged in certain occupations.

Police say she was being treated on Monday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. They say Sutton became angry at the nurse and wanted to leave.

The nurse says she told Sutton not to remove the IV. Police say Sutton intentionally ripped out the IV and got blood on the nurse’s face and clothing.

Sutton was released Tuesday from the Johnson County Jail. It wasn’t immediately clear if she has an attorney.
