PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police say a small explosive device blew up Wednesday, damaging two vehicles in the parking lot of an apartment complex next to a southwest Portland elementary school. No one was hurt.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says police and fire investigators and bomb technicians are trying to learn more about the device and exactly where it was located.

Markham Elementary was briefly locked down after the explosion.
