ELLSWORTH, Maine (AP) - Verso Paper Company employees are taking advantage of services as they are readying for the closure of the mill on Dec. 1.

WNSX-FM reports the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce held a meeting on Tuesday to help prepare the workers for the closure. The closure of the Bucksport mill is expected to put more than 500 people out of work.

Union leaders and representatives from businesses and educational institutions discussed resources available for the workers at the meeting. Assistance with health care, computer training and job fairs were among the services identified for the workers. A fund is also being set up to help the workers who might be in need of assistance in the future.
