LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - An April trial date has been scheduled in Pulaski County for a repeat parole absconder charged in the death of a teenager.

Darrell Dennis is charged with capital murder in the killing of 18-year-old Forrest Abrams in Little Rock last year.

On Tuesday, Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza scheduled an April 13 trial date for Dennis. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1ttpGGH ) that Dennis is next due in court for a pretrial hearing in February.

Officials say Abrams was killed less than two days after Dennis was released from jail. Dennis was an eight-time parole absconder but never had his parole revoked. The case prompted changes within Arkansas’ parole system last year, leading to overcrowding at many state prisons.
