SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say an unexploded 81mm mortar shell has been found on the Fort Huachuca (wah-CHU’-kuh) Army base in Sierra Vista.

Officials said Tuesday that the ordnance was discovered in Area Whiskey on the southern Arizona base.

Area Whiskey is located among the ranges in the cantonment area of the fort.

An explosive ordnance disposal team from Davis-Monthan Air Force in Tucson will be at Fort Huachuca to dispose of the mortar by detonating it around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Fort Huachuca is the home of the Army’s Intelligence Center.
