LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Officials from state offices representing veterans and immigrants will be sharing updates and insights with the Michigan Women’s Commission.

Speakers at the commission’s meeting Wednesday afternoon in Lansing include Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency Director Jeff Barnes and the agency’s employment analyst Ingrid Tighe. The commission will hear updates related to women veterans.

The meeting also will feature an overview of the state’s new Office for New Americans from its deputy director, Karen Phillippi. She says she’ll provide an overview of the office created this year by Gov. Rick Snyder to help grow the state’s economy through keeping, luring and nurturing global entrepreneurs and educated immigrants.

The commission’s meeting at the Radisson Downtown Lansing is open to the public.
