CORDELE, Ga. (AP) - Federal officials are investigating a fatal small plane crash in south Georgia.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says an Aeronca 7AC aircraft carrying two people crash landed during its departure from the Crisp County-Cordele Airport on Thursday afternoon.

County Coroner J.D. Rainey tells WMAZ-TV one person was killed and a second passenger was injured in the crash. The deceased passenger’s identity hasn’t been released.

Bergen says the FAA is investigating the crash and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine probable cause.

A small plane crash roughly 180 miles north in Hall County also killed one passenger and left a second seriously injured Thursday morning. Federal officials are also investigating that crash.
