HOLIDAY HILLS, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say the medical conditions of two McHenry County sheriff’s deputies who were shot while responding to a domestic dispute have improved.

At a news conference on Thursday afternoon, McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said the condition of 7-year veteran of the department has been upgraded from critical to serious. He underwent surgery after being shot in the leg and the chest. A female deputy was shot in the leg and Nygren says the 12-year-department veteran was in good condition after being in serious condition earlier in the day.

Nygren says that authorities are searching for the suspect in the Thursday morning shooting in the community of Holiday Hills - 52-year-old Scott Peters. He says Peters is believed to be carrying a rifle and is considered armed and dangerous.
