NEW LISBON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a Long Island man has died from injuries suffered when his all-terrain vehicle crashed during an outing in a rural upstate New York town last weekend.

The Daily Star of Oneonta reports (https://bit.ly/1wb32jB ) that the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Joshua Theisen of Medford in Suffolk County was visiting the area when the ATV he was driving crashed Sunday evening in the town of New Lisbon, 70 miles west of Albany.

Deputies say Theisen lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and went into a drainage ditch. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and suffered a severe head injury when he was ejected from the ATV, which landed on top of him.

Deputies say Theisen was taken to Bassett Medical Center in nearby Cooperstown, where he died Tuesday.
