FLINT, Mich. (AP) - A group that wanted to restore the links at Mott Park Golf Course in Flint says it has decided to go a different direction.

The Flint Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1F3ChmZ ) the Mott Park Public Golf Course Association announced Wednesday that the city-owned course won’t reopen.

Instead, officials are planning a disc golf area, dog park and splash pad as well as walking paths, a picnic area and a boat dock. A golf driving range and putting green are part of the plan, but officials determined that restoration of the nine-hole golf course would have been too costly.

A renewed agreement with the city gives the association control over the clubhouse and the grounds of the course.
