KANSAS (2-4, 0-3 Big 12) at TEXAS TECH (2-4, 0-3), 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday (Fox Sports Net)

Line: Texas Tech by 14

Series Record: Texas Tech leads 14-1

WHAT’S AT STAKE

Texas Tech is trying to avoid a ninth straight Big 12 loss going back to last season. The Red Raiders last lost nine straight conference games 30 years ago. Kansas is also looking for its first conference win this season and the first for interim coach Clint Bowen.

KEY MATCHUP

Texas Tech offense vs. Kansas defense. The Red Raiders, with the nation’s 10th-best passing offense and third best in the Big 12 (337.5 yards per game), are looking to build on a consistent rhythm they had in the first half last week against West Virginia behind QB Davis Webb and WRs Jakeem Grant and Bradley Marquez. The Jayhawks have intercepted six passes and allowed nine passing touchdowns to tie for 53rd nationally in pass defense at 222.7 yards per game.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Texas Tech: Webb is nursing a left ankle he sprained two weeks ago and reinjured in the 37-34 loss to West Virginia. He says he’ll be fine for the Kansas game. He’s thrown for 1,951 yards and 19 touchdowns but with 11 interceptions.

Kansas: RB Tony Pierson got more work out of the backfield last week against the Cowboys as Bowen attempts to find ways to get his biggest playmaker the ball. Pierson began his career as a running back but had been working as a wide receiver the past couple seasons.
