ROME TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a southeastern Michigan police officer has been found dead in his home with what appears to be an accidental gunshot wound.

The Jackson Citizen Patriot (https://bit.ly/1CrFTLB ) reports Thursday that Cambridge Township Sgt. Gregory Hunt was found Wednesday afternoon in his home in Lenawee County’s Rome Township. The 41-year-old was off-duty at the time.

Sheriff Jack Welsh says investigators are waiting for autopsy and lab results before determining the cause of Hunt’s death.

Cambridge Township Police Chief Larry Wibbeler says Hunt had been with the department for 14 years.
