No. 23 STANFORD (4-2, 2-1 Pac-12) at No. 17 ARIZONA STATE (4-1, 2-1), 10:30 p.m. EDT (ESPN)

Line: Stanford by 3

Series Record: Arizona State leads 16-13.

A rematch of the 2013 Pac-12 Championship game features two teams needing a win to stay in their division races. Arizona State beat USC on Hail Mary before its bye week and is a half-game behind the Trojans in the South. Stanford, which beat ASU twice last season, is tied with Oregon atop the North.

Arizona State’s offense vs. Stanford’s defense. This will be strength against strength. The Cardinal lead the nation in scoring defense at 10 points per game and are second in total defense, allowing 238 yards per game. The Sun Devils are seventh nationally in total offense with 556.8 yards per game and are 13th with 41.2 points per game.

Stanford: WR/KR Ty Montgomery. The All-American is a threat to score on every touch and leads the nation with nearly 30 yards per kickoff return. The Sun Devils, who have had some lapses on special teams, will need to find a way to keep him contained.

Arizona State: QB Taylor Kelly. The senior hasn’t played since injuring his right foot against Colorado on Sept. 13, but returned to practice this week. Coach Todd Graham said he will play, but how much depends on how his foot holds up. Mike Bercovici likely will start against the Cardinal.

Stanford has won four straight in the series, including a 38-14 victory in last year’s Pac-12 Championship game in Tempe. ASU’s last win in the series came in 2008. … The Sun Devils are facing a third straight ranked team for the second time in school history. Arizona State, which played UCLA and USC its past two games, went 0-3 in 2000 and 1-2 in 1994 when facing three straight ranked teams. … Stanford has held 13 straight regular-season opponents to 20 or less points. … Bercovici has thrown for 998 yards in two games since replacing Kelly.
