HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Media mogul Ted Turner is selling his 4,700-acre island on the South Carolina coast.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports (https://bit.ly/1Df6q0J ) that Turner is asking almost $24 million for St. Phillips Island near Hilton Head that includes a main house and a caretaker’s house.

Turner bought the island as a family retreat in 1979.

The island has been listed by Plantation Services, a company that specializes in the sale of large plantations and estates. Real estate agent Chip Hall would not talk to the newspaper about the listing.

Any further development on the island is limited because of an agreement Turner has with the Nature Conservancy. The agreement would be transferred in any sale. It limits development on the island to only 10 additional homes.
