SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt. (AP) - A 15-year-old Vermont student is facing juvenile charges that he brought a device to the South Royalton school that appeared to be a bomb.

State Police said investigators were called Thursday after a student saw an image on another student’s school computer of what appeared to be a bomb.

School officials confronted the student, whose name was not released, and found the device in his book bag.

Students were moved to the gymnasium and a state police investigation found the device, made with batteries and old cell phone parts that “did resemble an explosive device to a reasonable person.”

The juvenile was taken from school and sent to juvenile court to answer charges of placing a hoax device and disorderly conduct.
