STANDISH, Mich. (AP) - Michigan officials say two Kawkawlin men have been ticketed for shooting 20 redhead ducks and exceeding the bag limit of two ducks per person.

The state Department of Natural Resources says the 22-year-old men face restitution payments of $100 to $500 per duck for the violation this week.

Conservation officer Nick Atkin says he encountered the pair Monday night at a boat launch in Arenac County. He says they seemed nervous and he saw two redhead ducks in their boat.

A hunter reported finding a stringer of 18 redhead ducks underneath the boat dock the next day. Officers say the pair later confessed to shooting 20 ducks while hunting.

Officials haven’t identified the men but say they have previous waterfowl hunting violations. They have 10 days to appear in court.
