LA MESA, Calif. (AP) - The mother of two toddlers who drowned in a San Diego County swimming pool has been sentenced to four years in prison.

U-T San Diego reports (https://bit.ly/1DgCZLV) that 28-year-old Tassie Behrens was sentenced Thursday, about three months after she pleaded guilty to two counts of felony child endangerment.

Authorities said they found a marijuana-growing operation at the house with a pool where Behrens and her kids were staying. She’d also faced drug charges, but those were dismissed with her plea.

In May 2013, Behrens had slept at a friend’s house in La Mesa and woke to find 16-month-old Harley Bradford and 2-year-old Jason Bradford face down in the pool with no fence.

The children died at a hospital. Their deaths were ruled accidental.
