PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Nine new troopers have joined the ranks of the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

The recruits went through more than eight months of training to reach Friday’s graduation ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda.

The graduates completed basic law enforcement training followed by the South Dakota Highway Patrol Recruit Academy and training in the field.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard joined family and friends of the new troopers at the ceremony. He reminded them that South Dakota citizens appreciate their efforts, sacrifice and training.
