NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission will meet to consider extending a moratorium on issuing any new permits for large or medium concentrated animal feeding operations or confined animal operations in the Buffalo River Watershed.

The meeting is scheduled Oct. 24 at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality headquarters building commission room in North Little Rock.

The commission imposed a 180-day moratorium on such permits under its emergency rulemaking authority at its meeting in April.

The original moratorium will expire before the commission will be able to vote on whether to make the prohibition permanent under its regular rulemaking process.
