BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - The Kmart store in Bozeman is closing its doors in mid-January.

Sears Holdings Corp. spokesman Howard Riefs told the Bozeman Daily Chronicle (https://bit.ly/1FdXHhr ) on Friday that a liquidation sale is scheduled to begin on Nov. 2.

The store has 37 mostly part-time employees. Some employees are eligible for severance and can apply for open positions at other company stores.

The closure is part of Sears Holdings’ effort to cut expenses as more customers are shopping online.

Riefs says no other Montana Kmart stores are immediately scheduled to close.

The Sears store in Great Falls is undergoing a liquidation sale with its closing planned for early December. The store and auto center had 65 employees.
