ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - A British company is investing $12 million in a new plant in Orangeburg that is expected to create 50 jobs within five years.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (https://bit.ly/1yJOUSO ) that Sigmatex makes carbon fiber textiles used in the aerospace and automotive industries.

The company is spending $6 million initially but plans to expand the plant it in the coming years.

Construction is expected to start by the end of the year with operations beginning by the middle of next year.
