COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Supreme Court has rejected a request for mediation by the Democratic gubernatorial candidate fighting a GOP lawsuit trying to force him to release data related to his job as the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County executive.

The Republican suit asks the court to compel the release as public records the key-card data showing when Ed FitzGerald enters and leaves Cuyahoga County buildings and parking facilities.

Lawyers for FitzGerald asked the court last month to allow both sides to mediate the dispute, a request rejected by the court Friday.

A FitzGerald campaign spokeswoman calls the lawsuit a political stunt and says Republicans and Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) should focus on real issues that matter to residents.
