KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Knoxville police say the cremated remains of about 40 people have been stolen from two cemeteries there.

Media report that police say they are looking for those responsible for the theft at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery and Berry Highland West Cemetery.

Officials are in the process of notifying families.

Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk said no damage was left behind. It’s not clear when the remains were taken.
