PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Two Rhode Island environmental organizations have announced their endorsements for governor and other statewide offices.

The Sierra Club and Clean Water Action announced at the Statehouse Friday they are backing Democrat Gina Raimondo over GOP nominee Allan Fung.

The Sierra Club skipped endorsing in the primary, saying that all three Democratic candidates would be strong on the environment.

The organizations backed one Republican, Catherine Taylor. The former director of the state division of elderly affairs is running against Democrat Dan McKee, the mayor of Cumberland.

They also endorsed Seth Magaziner, the Democratic nominee for state treasurer; Jorge Elorza, the Democratic nominee for Providence mayor; and U.S. Rep. David Cicilline, who is seeking re-election in the 1st Congressional District.
