GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Emergency responders are being tested in a disaster drill sponsored by the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville and the Greenville Health System.

The annual exercise begins Friday at 8 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m. on the Greenville Health System campus.

This is the third year for the drill, which tests responders through simulations of various life-threatening events.

It includes police, fire and rescue, paramedics, hospital staff and medical students. They must work together to assist patients and confront dangerous situations. Organizers attempt to capture the sights and sounds of actual emergency situations to enhance the drills.
