PHOENIX (AP) - State officials say a crash caused by a wrong-way driver has closed Interstate 10 eastbound at the I-17 ‘Stack’ interchange in Phoenix.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the 25-year-old driver entered the highway from the wrong direction early Friday and struck a number of vehicles. Authorities say the woman, whose name was not released, was transported to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical condition.

No information was available on other possible injuries.

The closure included the ramps to I-10 eastbound from I-17 southbound and northbound and should last through the Friday morning commute.

Officials say drivers who normally use I-10 from the West Valley or I-17 from the North Valley should expect delays and allow for extended travel times.
