KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Two Key West bartenders who won a ruling from a Monroe County judge to be married will serve as grand marshals of the Key West Fantasy Fest parade.

Festival officials announced Friday that Aaron Huntsman and William Lee Jones will lead the Oct. 25 procession. Friday was the first day of the 10-day costuming and masking festival.

Officials say the pair was chosen because of their contributions to lead Key West and Florida into same-sex marriage equality. Although Monroe County is prepared to issue same-sex marriage licenses, Huntsman and Jones haven’t married because Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is seeking review from the Florida Supreme Court.

Fantasy Fest continues through Oct. 26. The theme is “Animated Dreams & Adventures,” inspired by Japanese animation.
