ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man will spend 12 to 25 years in state prison for raping a 1-year-old boy he was babysitting, while also punching the child in the face and molesting the boy’s 4-year-old brother, who had witnessed the other attack.

The Erie Times-News (https://bit.ly/1sX93S9 ) reports 19-year-old Nicholas Thompson, of Erie, will also spend 20 years on probation after his release from prison as part of the sentence imposed Thursday.

Thompson was just 17 when the assaults occurred, but was prosecuted as an adult.

He apologized in court and told Erie County Judge John Garhart he hoped to fix the problems he caused, as well as his own character defects.

But the judge told Thompson, “What you did in those few seconds, all the power in the earth can’t recall.”
