PARIS, Ark. (AP) - A Paris man has been sentenced to 90 years in prison after pleading guilty to negligent homicide in connection with a head-on collision that killed a man and two children.

The Times Record reports that 43-year-old Eric Randall Thompson was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to three counts of negligent homicide. Thompson testified that he pleaded guilty to prove that his apology for the crash was sincere.

Authorities say Thompson was northbound on Arkansas 309 near Paris on Aug. 22, 2013, when he passed several vehicles, then crashed head-on into the southbound vehicle carrying 32-year-old James “Dusty” Lee; 8-year-old James Dawson Lee; and 12-year-old Caleb Campbell.

The three were each dead at the scene.
