LOS ANGELES (AP) - The body of a Southern California college student who vanished a month ago has been found alongside a desert freeway nearly 150 miles from his home.

Police say 23-year-old Abdullah Abdullatif Alkadi of Northridge was found at 11:50 p.m. Thursday alongside Interstate 10 near the Cook Street overpass in Palm Desert.

There’s no immediate word on the cause of his death.

Alkadi, who was from Saudi Arabia, studied electrical engineering at California State University, Northridge.

His brother has said Alkadi vanished after selling a car on Craigslist but police say they contacted the buyer and determined there was no connection to the disappearance.

His brother also has said Alkadi’s cellphone was traced to Beaumont in Riverside County and then deactivated, but Alkadi had no ties to that area.
