NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police say a 70-year-old motorcyclist is the first reported Biketoberfest death.

George Dean Jr. wasn’t wearing a helmet when the cycle flipped over and landed on him on an Interstate 95 ramp Thursday afternoon. Authorities say he died instantly.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (https://bit.ly/1qH6uhX ) reports Dean was riding with his brother and a friend when the crash happened. As they approached the ramp at State Road 44, Dean lost control of the cycle.

Authorities say they don’t believe alcohol was a factor.

Last year, five bikers died during Biketoberfest. The festival kicked off Thursday and wraps up Sunday.
