PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - A Nov. 21 sentencing date has been set for a Pascagoula man on two counts of sexual battery of two girls under age 14.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1nrV2uC ) 38-year-old James Duane Burns Jr. entered an Alford plea in the case Tuesday, meaning he did not admit guilt but acknowledged prosecutors could likely prove the charges against him. He entered the plea before Circuit Judge Kathy King Jackson, who deferred sentencing until November.

Burns is free on a $10,000 bond.

According to the indictment, between June 1, 2007, and Aug. 1, 2007, Burns had sex with a young girl. In addition, between Sept. 1, 2010, and Sept. 30, 2010, he had sex with another girl under age 14.

The two girls submitted letters that said how the crimes affected their lives.
