GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A historical maker will be placed Saturday at the site of the former Gulfport High School.

The event commemorates the building’s 90th anniversary, as an unconditional gift to the United States government.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1sMEHBi ) the building, which is now the Dan M. Russell Jr. United States Courthouse, was built in 1924 after the high school burned down.

The 10:30 a.m. event is hosted by the Gulfport High School Historical Marker Committee.
