ORONOKO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Police have released the name of a 14-month-old southwestern Michigan girl who was fatally struck by her family’s car.

Berrien Springs Oronoko Township police said in a statement Friday that the victim is Emma Gonzalez. The toddler died in her driveway Thursday in the Berrien County township.

According to police, the car was driven by Emma’s 31-year-old mother, Wendy Gonzalez, who struck the child while backing out of the garage.

Police says their investigation’s findings will be given to prosecutors for review “as a matter of protocol.”
