PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Several state parks in South Dakota will be hosting trick-or-treat events during Halloween weekend.

Officials with the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department say Custer State Park will host one-mile guided night hikes on Oct. 24 and 25. The hikes will be along a path lit only by jack-o-lanterns.

The Big Sioux Recreation Area near Brandon will allow visitors to participate in a scavenger hunt on Oct. 25. Prizes and treats will be available at stops along the trail.

At LaFramboise Island Nature Area in Pierre visitors will be able to follow a trick-or-treat trail through the wooded nature area on Oct. 26.

Costumes are encouraged for the hikes but not required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
