CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A trial date has been set for a 67-year-old Casper man charged with shooting another man in the head in August.

Natrona County District Court Judge Thomas Sullins on Thursday scheduled the second-degree murder trial for Charlie Mapp to start on March 9 and said it would last up to four days.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1nswbqB ) Mapp is charged in the shooting death of 28-year-old Richard Abeyta at an Aug. 9 house party in Casper. Court records say Abeyta accused Mapp of flirting with his girlfriend and the two men argued.

Investigators say Abeyta had taunted and threatened to kill Mapp and eventually followed him to his vehicle. Prosecutors allege Mapp grabbed a .38-caliber revolver and shot Abeyta above his right eye. Abeyta died at the hospital the next day.

Mapp pleaded not guilty late last month.
