MONMOUTH, Ill. (AP) - A standoff in western Illinois that lasted five and a half hours has ended with the arrest of a 26-year-old man.

Authorities say Dustin Lewis held police at bay with a shotgun, firing several shots inside and outside the residence but not directly at police officers.

WGIL Radio in Galesburg reports (https://bit.ly/1sUoKsQ ) that Friday’s standoff took place in rural Warren County.

Local prosecutors say Lewis was the only one inside the home when deputies arrived around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

At about 9 p.m. a SWAT team arrested him.

Lewis faces felony charges, including aggravated assault to a police officer and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He is being held in the Warren County Jail. A bond hearing is expected over the weekend.
