HONOLULU (AP) - The Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross is planning to open five shelters on Oahu as Hurricane Ana passes southwest of the island.

The shelters will open their doors at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Oahu shelters will be at Brigham Young University in Honolulu, Farrington High School in Honolulu, Leilehua High School in Wahiawa, Nanakuli High and Intermediate School in Waianae and Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate School.

The Red Cross closed its shelters on the Big Island and says it doesn’t plan to open any on Maui or Lanai.

As for Kauai, the Red Cross says that will be decided later Saturday.
