CRAFTSBURY COMMON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s Sterling College is inviting the public to attend a barn-raising and dedication of its new Alfond Draft Horse Barn.

The event will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Sterling President Matthew Derr says working with draft horses has been a tradition at Sterling College that dates back to the beginning of the school.

He says Sterling was of the first colleges to work with draft horses and the first in the national to have a minor in draft horse management.

The barn was built with the support of the Peter Alfond Foundation.

Peter Alfond says the barn is a tribute to the college’s model of academic growth through experiential learning.
