LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A Laramie man has pleaded not guilty to killing a 20-year-old woman 42 years ago.

Lance David Bean entered the plea to first-degree murder before District Judge Jeffrey Donnell on Wednesday.

The 60-year-old Bean remains in custody on a $750,000 cash or commercial bond.

During Wednesday’s hearing, defense attorney Vaughn Neubauer asked the judge to consider releasing Bean pending trial.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/YUC5Fq ) that Donnell denied the request and set a Feb. 2 trial date.

Bean was arrested in August after police said they linked his DNA to the 1972 slaying of Sharon Reher, whose body was found in her Laramie residence by her brother.
