NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say an early morning fire in a Brooklyn apartment building left one man dead.

Officials responded to the call of a fire at the structure on Herkimer Street around 3 a.m. Thursday. After the fire was put out, a 61-year-old man was found inside. He was unconscious and unresponsive.

Authorities said he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Steve Dodson.
