MILTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont school district that received complaints over hazing allegedly involving members of the high school football team is hosting a public forum on the matter.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1BBn0Fr) district officials hope Thursday night’s forum in Milton will provide answers for residents, some of whom expressed frustration about how the case was handled.

The Milton School Board has voted to seek an independent investigation into whether the district mishandled the complaints.

Five men ranging in age from 18 to 20 have been accused of hazing in 2011 and 2012. Court documents accuse them of holding the initiations at homes and at the high school. They have pleaded not guilty.
