PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Roman Catholic preparatory school that removed a portrait of Treasurer Gina Raimondo has now taken down every photograph of notable graduates.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/YUI5hu) that the board of trustees at La Salle Academy voted to remove them, believing they had become a distraction to learning.

Raimondo’s photo was removed from a wall also displaying other notable alumni last week, on the same day the Democratic gubernatorial candidate spoke in support of abortion rights and reproductive rights.

A spokesman said her comments were not in line with the school’s teachings and did not elaborate. Raimondo was valedictorian of her class at La Salle.

There were 25 photographs on the wall, including a portrait of U.S. Sen. Jack Reed.
