LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man sleeping on the beach when he was run over by a truck allegedly driven by a Long Beach maintenance worker is suing the city and the driver.

City News Service reports Jonathan Soto filed the negligence lawsuit Wednesday. It names the city of Long Beach and driver Stanley Willie Delaney, who was picking up trash.

Soto seeks unspecified damages.

According to the complaint, Soto was napping on the beach on Feb. 4 when he was struck by a pickup driven by Delaney.

The suit alleges Delaney was traveling at an unsafe speed and was distracted by a passenger.

Soto suffered a broken pelvis and other injuries.

The Long Beach city attorney’s office did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment. A telephone listing for Delaney was disconnected.
