OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Omaha Performing Arts has bought most of a downtown block for more than $1.8 million for future parking needs at the Holland Performing Arts Center.

That comes to about $8,600 per parking space.

The lot currently provides monthly surface parking on weekdays. On evenings and weekends, it’s open for valet and paid parking for events at the Holland and other downtown venues.

The Omaha World-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/10mfHWV ) that the group recently bought 1.4 acres of the lot. Two other parcels, totaling about three-tenths of an acre, are owned by the city of Omaha.
