EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Police in Eugene, Oregon, say they have located a woman suspected of being the “locked out of car” thief.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/nIjQzK ) that the 27-year-old Eugene resident was arrested Tuesday after officers got a tip.

Police recently warned residents to be alert for a woman who had approached people in a grocery parking lot and told them she was locked out of her car. She would ask for a ride and, before getting out of their vehicle, manage to steal wallets.

Police say they received numerous similar reports over the previous 10 days. They were circulating a security camera image of a suspect.

On Tuesday, an officer alerted by a citizen located the woman and determined she had some of the stolen items.

The woman was cited for three counts of second-degree theft and three counts of third-degree theft.
