AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - Police are searching for a robbery suspect who they say was denied entry to a Texas Panhandle Taco Bell when an employee locked him out of the store.

Amarillo Police Sgt. Charles Pairis tells the Amarillo Globe-News (https://bit.ly/1rxSgp0 ) the attempted robbery happened Thursday morning. He says the man was armed with a handgun and was wearing a hockey mask. Pairis says the suspect confronted an employee who had exited out the back door to take out garbage.

Pairis says the man told the employee to go into the store and open the safe. He says the employee said no, and then shut and locked the door.

Police say the robber then fled the area. No arrests have been reported and officers are investigating.
