MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Plans are being made for a statewide Senior Week event in South Carolina next year.

Details are being announced on Thursday during a news conference in Myrtle Beach.

Lt. Gov. Yancey McGill as well as Parks Recreation and Tourism Director Duane Parrish and representatives of the tourism industry are speaking.

During the planned Senior Week, hotels, attractions and restaurants across the state will be offering discounts to senior citizens.

The South Carolina Office on Aging is administered by the Lieutenant Governor’s office. Myrtle Beach is the heart of the state’s $18 billion tourism industry.
