BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - A vessel owned by the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources has capsized in the Mississippi Sound.

Two department employees Thursday were bringing oysters from Pascagoula to Biloxi on The Conservationist, a 65-foot-vessel, when it capsized three miles south of Graveline Bayou.

Both employees were wearing life jackets and are safe.

Jamie Miller, the department’s executive director, says they’re working to recover the vessel and an investigation is underway.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. Thursday.

J.E. Borries, a company in Jackson County, will place boom around the vessel and begin recovery efforts Friday morning.
